Groupon vouchers can be redeemed on our website- click the tab for the flight that applies to you (either “Romantic Sunset Flights” or “Romantic Night Flights”). A pop-up window will appear, and just beneath the field that requires passenger weights is a box entitled “Add promo or discount code”. Type the Groupon voucher/redemption code into this field. Your Groupon voucher/redemption code is typically 12 digits of combined letters and numbers without any hyphens. If, for some reason, it does not take your voucher code, contact us at (678) 677-2700 and we will be happy to assist you in manually redeeming your voucher.
-
We are only able to apply one promo code or voucher to each given flight.
-
Our policy is to not allow for pets of any kind onboard the flight. If you have a service animal with documentation supporting its role in your safety/wellbeing, please let us know.
-
Personally I do not recommend flying with us if pregnant. However, the decision should be between you and your physician. Please consult with your physician.
-
Sure, infants may fly. A child under the age of 2 can sit in the lap of an adult. The seatbelt is to be worn by the adult only, and the infant is held securely by the adult during flight.

We would love to offer helicopter rides in Atlanta! At this time we operate open-cockpit biplane rides and closed-cockpit tours in our Piper Cherokee. Call us biased, but we think there is a bit more novelty to flying in an open-cockpit biplane as compared to helicopter tours. However, helicopters are pretty dang cool, too, so truth be told, we would love to someday be able to offer helicopter tours in Atlanta!

Please wear closed-toe shoes which do not have a raised heel. You will be stepping onto the wing of the aircraft during boarding and deplaning. If you have hair that is shoulder length or longer, then you will need to make sure to wear it up in a tight bun with a hair tie. We recommend you dress appropriately for the temperatures on the date of your flight. We fly typically right around 1,500 feet above Atlanta’s 1,000 foot elevation, which is 2,500 feet above sea-level. Generally speaking, temperatures decrease as altitude increases, by about 5 degrees Fahrenheit per thousand feet. Keep in mind flights in our open-cockpit biplane feature a windscreen so that you will not have direct wind in your face- however there will be a sensation of “wind all around you”. We do fly year ‘round in the biplane, as long as temps are high enough. If temperatures are below 60 degrees, bring an extra layer, and consider bringing a scarf as well. Typically, we require temps to be above 45 F in order to fly.
-
We certainly do. There is a slow season, which is from late November through the end of February. However, we are available for flights even during those months- as long as the weather and temperatures permit.

We proudly operate primarily at the 57th Fighter Group Restaurant. That being said, we are mindful to be very respectful to their business. So, if you would like to enjoy a wine or champagne or birthday dessert for your special flight, we welcome and encourage you to purchase those things from the 57th. The quality of food and service at the 57th is excellent. Besides, where else can you go where there is a World War II-themed restaurant with a beautiful outdoor dining patio, indoor and outdoor bar areas, and a dance floor with resident DJs every weekend, while simultaneously walk through a gate and board an iconic biplane from the same era, to fly over Atlanta’s most-notable landmarks?

It is not lost on us the, great responsibility and privilege we have in earning your business. The highly-unique nature of that in which we specialize, makes it all that much more significant that you choose us over other companies- and we know that you have choices! Over the years there has been a common denominator among all our customers: We are in the business of making people FEEL something special, as a result of an EXPERIENCE we provide. We understand that the number of wings on the plane (ie. whether a biplane or monoplane), or the color of the airplane- simply do not matter. Furthermore we acknowledge that even the most spectacular views in the world cannot make up for a merely mediocre customer experience. We strive to ensure you are treated as our utmost priority from the minute we answer the phone on your initial inquiry call, up until after the flight when it is time to say goodbye, and every moment in-between. Our job is to provide that experience and we respectfully leave it up to you to do your end of the deal, which includes choosing where to spend your hard-earned money. If you choose to do business with us, we graciously appreciate it and are humbled by your decision to do so.

Children must occupy their own seat. The exception is for children whom have not yet reached their 2nd birthday.

Airplanes are kind of like boats. Oftentimes the least expensive aspect of ownership is the purchase itself. The insurance, hangar storage, fuel, and maintenance are expenses which we spend tens of thousands of dollars on each year. As one might hope and expect, we do not take shortcuts when it comes to maintenance. Let’s not also lose sight of the tremendous value we aim to provide by offering these flight experiences to the general public. Flying in a man-made machine over a densely-populated city out of Georgia’s 2nd-busiest airport is an incredible privilege and we are honored to be able to share it with you. We are in the business of offering what is truly one of- if not THE- best things to do in Atlanta. So, we hope that you understand that you truly are getting what you pay for.

We primarily accept major debit and credit cards. On occasion, Venmo or CashApp payments can also be arranged. It is always good to bring some cash, as our pilots graciously welcome tips.

Check-in is required the day prior to your flight. By this time, we typically have a good feel for whether the next day’s weather forecast will allow for flight- and a go/no-go decision is made at that time. Now and then, when weather is very dynamic, we may defer the go/no-go decision to the day of the flight- this will be communicated to you at the time of check-in. Ultimately, the go/no-go decision is at the sole discretion of your pilot. The big takeaway is that you should not assume that just because it is cloudy, your flight is cancelled. For example, it could be overcast, but with clouds high enough to allow for flight. Conversely, just because it is clear and visually beautiful outside, does not mean it is a “go”. There are times when we will have to cancel due to high winds, despite how otherwise beautiful it seems outside.

Your booking time is the designated time to be greeted by your pilot. It certainly never hurts to be a bit early- 15 minutes early works best. Atlanta traffic can be difficult to predict! We operate at two locations at the same airport: The majority of our flights are at the 57th Fighter Group Restaurant, at 3829 Clairmont Road. Park in the parking lot of the restaurant, then make your way to the back patio area. You can walk directly to the patio from the parking lot via a sidewalk on the far left side as you are standing in the lot and facing the restaurant. Alternatively, you can enter the main entrance of the restaurant (at the center of the building), and walk through the bar/lounge areas to reach the back patio. Our other operating location is Epps FBO (Fixed-Based Operator). Epps is a private passenger terminal building which features gracious, friendly staff, comfortable lobby seating, and complimentary coffee/tea as well as vending machines, plus clean restrooms. We choose Epps for flights anytime the 57th is closed. This way, we ensure that you have restroom and air conditioned facilities available before and after your flight.

Simply put, no. We have flown families who brought an infant (with proper hearing protection), and people as old as 106 (yes, we had a 106-year old man fly with us- he even climbed onto the wing of the biplane and entered the seating compartment without the need for any assistance!).
-
There is no cooler way to bond with your kids than a trip to the airport, seats at the 57th patio, chicken nuggets, mac n cheese and a Coke- all coupled with plane spotting and a flight in an open-cockpit biplane! Please, bring out the entire family!

We understand that if you are visiting from out of town, you are probably looking to participate in various leisure experiences besides just a flight with us. We will always be happy to give you some tips on some of our favorite places to hang out. Check out our blog which has some valuable tips. https://www.atlantabiplane.com/blog

There is no better way to experience a romantic dinner + flight date night in Atlanta, than to fly with us! We recommend that you eat after your flight. Reason being, there is a better chance that you will be able to enjoy your dinner without feeling rushed to make your flight on-time. If you prefer to eat prior to your flight, that is fine, too, but we recommend that you make reservations for your dinner 1.5 hours prior to your scheduled flight time.

Our open cockpit biplane holds two passengers. The pilot sits in the aft compartment, and the two passengers sit up front together, side by side. Each passenger is equipped with an aviation communication headset, and each passenger wears their own seatbelt. Our closed-cockpit airplane- the Piper Cherokee, is a 4-seater. So, minus the pilot, there is room for three passengers. Two sit in the back and one sits up front in the co-pilot seat. 90% of our flights in the Piper are just couples, and we recommend that you both take the back seat so that you can enjoy the views with your loved one, while getting the full “chauffeur” experience from your pilot.

This is a tough one, you might as well ask “Which of your children is your favorite”. In a perfect world, you will come back and fly with us repeatedly until you have experienced every one of our route options. Personally, it is a tie between the Stone Mountain + All-Atlanta Skyline route, or the Lake Lanier Sunset flight. We probably do sell more All-Atlanta Skyline flights than anything else. In a short amount of time, you get views of various notable Atlanta landmarks, including Piedmont Park, the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, Ponce City Market, Oakland Cemetery, the State Capitol Building, Center Park Stadium (formerly known as Turner Field and now affectionately-called “Panthers Stadium”), Mercedes Benz Stadium, Centennial Olympic Park, Skyview Ferris wheel, Georgia Aquarium, Bank of America Building (we call it “the Pencil Building”), Bobby Dodd Stadium, Atlantic Station, and Bobby Jones Golf Course. Being able to see so many places in such a compressed amount of time proves to be a major value!

We fly at 1,500’ AGL (Above Ground Level), which is 2,500’ above sea level.
-
Our goal is always to exceed your expectations. If you feel we have done so, then we graciously will always welcome a tip. A tip is an expression of a job done well, and is always appreciated by your pilot.

Oops, that is a tough one. We certainly like to think so! However, to be fair to helicopters, it is probably better said that one is not necessarily better than the other- rather, these are two different experiences. Helicopters typically fly a little bit slower, and fly lower which provides for really cool, unique views. However, nothing quite matches the sensation you get from riding in an open-cockpit WWII vintage biplane- the wind all around you, the rumble of the large-displacement radial engine, the views framed between the upper and lower wings, the banks, the climbs, and descents. In a perfect world, you’ll want to experience both biplanes and helicopters. We just hope you pick us for your biplane ride, first. 😉

Our routes go to Downtown Atlanta, Lake Lanier, Stone Mountain, the Chattahoochee River, and, coming soon, Truist Stadium in Marietta. Soon, we will be offering flights from McCollum Airport in Kennesaw, as well as from Gwinnett County Airport in Lawrenceville. Be on the lookout for announcements about our future locations!

Currently the focus is to fulfill sightseeing tours which are gentle in nature, with no abrupt maneuvers which would be considered aerobatic. However, our aircraft are certified by design as fully-aerobatic, so be on the lookout for future announcements about aerobatic flight experience options available. There is a bit more that goes into being able to provide an aerobatic experience- all occupants must wear parachutes, and we have to be at a higher altitude, flying over a sparsely-populated area, plus an extra layer of pilot qualification and training requirements- for safety’s sake. So for now, plan on enjoying a smooth, relaxing flight with us.
